Seeing this? 285 million people cannot. Blindness is among the most harrowing burdens- especially in developing nations, where sight is most integral to survival. Nonetheless, citizens of such countries are victimized by blindness more than anyone else.
Thankfully, there’s still hope. Over 80% of blindness is avoidable! Organizations like Operation Eyesight Universal have been directly combatting it for many years.
Unfortunately, in the midst of other issues, like hunger and lack of education, public knowledge of this cause is quite suboptimal. In response to that, OEU has recently decided to take a daring, but (hopefully) rewarding measure. A few months ago, it reached out to youth. To us! 🙂
As members of the inaugural Youth Advisory Committee, we are honored to advocate on behalf of an organization doing so much good in the world. Furthermore, after four months of struggle, we finally have found a generous teacher sponsor (Thanks, Mr. Snyder ❤ ) and are ready to make a difference. This is the very first step, and we want YOU to be a part of it!
Listen for Double O on the announcements; look for its posters in the washrooms, read the Churchill Chronicle for updates, and ATTEND THE FIRST MEETING IN MARCH Come join us and five other Calgary schools in making a difference that lasts.
